Treadmill Desk Design

The tape counter is an innovative idea that allows you to work simultaneously on your notebook and exercise. Although many versions are available for purchase in retail stores, these treadmill desk are often quite expensive. You can create your own treadmill desk easily at home with a small BOM. Measure the distance between the arms to walk the treadmill, and arms to walk to the bottom of the treadmill. Buy your supplies. The wooden shelf must be long enough to fit through the arms walking the treadmill, and wide enough to support your laptop. Guy wires should be long enough to reach the bottom of the treadmill desk.

Paint the wooden shelf to match the treadmill, if desired. I drill a small hole in the top of the wooden platform, centered along the left edge. This hole does not have to reach all the way across the platform as it is used to secure the elastic cord. Repeat step four on the right end of the platform. Place the wooden shelf evenly over the arms to walk the treadmill. Secure each side. Stretch bungee cords holes drilled in the bottom of the treadmill. Guy wires must be tightly holding the platform in place.
